Dragonfly Made with Ceiling Fan Blades and An Old Table Leg

It has been so long since I have been here and so much has happened
that I was almost overwhelmed trying to think about where to start.
So, I am just going to jump in.

In March I made a dragonfly for my daughter-in-law's birthday.
I thought I would share with you the process, just in case you want to give this a try.
The backdoor neighbor was throwing away his ceiling fan.
So I asked, "Can I have that?"
Kitty-No helped me disassemble it. We removed all the hardware.
She loves to get right in the middle of any project I am working on.

Then, a trip to my favorite junk store to find a discarded table leg.
I spray painted it bright yellow. After the paint dried I distressed it with a bit of sanding
The blades were black but I felt like
they needed a little somethin', somethin'! Ah, lace!
I salvaged a piece from a very worn out tablecloth and
taped it to the blade. I only used that one piece of lace
and positioned it "just so", painted one wing with a "misty spray",
painted the other wing, then reversed the lace for the wings on the
other side and repeated the process.
The tricky part was attaching the wings. I forgot to take pictures of that.
I wasn't trying to leave out this step. I laid the wings out (right side down)
and glued a 1" x 2" piece of wood to the center back of the wings.
When the glue dried, I turned the whole thing over and attached the wings to
the 1X2 with small screws. I added 2 eye screws for hanging.
The reason I used 2, (1) to hang it an angle and (2) West Texas winds.

I added a wire antenna and some eyes. Note: the two holes
you see here are not the eyes. That is where the table hardware was removed.
Then, using larger screws, the whole wing assembly was attached to the table leg.
For the eyes I used chair leg tips. Use your imagination on that.

So, a broken ceiling fan, one old discarded table leg,
an old tattered and torn piece of lace, and some time and
some love and I have a new creation to bless Nikki with.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone,
the new is here!
